WhyASPIREKids?

Childhood trauma and exposure to toxic stress increases the risk for adolescent pregnancy, illicit drug use, alcoholism, depression, suicidal thoughts and health problems such as heart and liver disease into adulthood.  The number one way to help children build resilience is to help them build healthy relationships with adults and friends through access to positive activities. Participating in extracurricular and normalcy activities gives children the opportunity to create those relationships with peers and adults paving the way to healthier futures. They also have opportunities to learn to fail and succeed in a safe environment, learn new skills, develop self-confidence, develop leadership skills and improved work ethic.

We believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience normalcy regardless of their living arrangements or financial ability. Children are not given the option to choose their circumstances. Whether homeless, in foster care, or living with extended family too many children lack access to the activities and clothing that allow them to just be kids.

ASPIREKids partners with various youth and family service providers in El Dorado, Placer, Amador, Yolo and Sacramento Counties to give at-risk and low income children access to extracurricular and normalcy activities.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth in our community.
